Our tailored workshops are designed to help organisations and companies build a strong foundation in AI and apply it effectively to drive business growth. Part 1. Intro to AI

Session 1. Demystify AI and understand the role of data (essential to choose)

  • An overview of what AI is and its key areas

  • A bit more details about how data is used in AI to train a model

Cover a list of trending topics. Pick one or more that are of your interest or can potentially benefit your business. It includes (but not limited to):

Session 2. Predictive analytics & forecasting (machine learning)

Example use cases: sales forecast, customer churn, demand planning, customer segmentation, fraud detection

Session 3. Unlocking images/videos (computer vision)

Example use cases: medical image analysis, quality control in manufacturing, automated inventory management

Session 4. How machines understand human language (NLP, LLM, ChatGPT)

Example use cases: chatbots, analysing customer reviews, document summarization, generating ideas

Session 5. Making the best choice (optimization)

Example use cases: building space optimization, design optimization, timetabling & scheduling

Session 6. How to keep software and autonomous systems secure (cyber security)

Example use cases: preventing theft of sensitive information; securing company systems from attacks and disruptions; detecting and stopping scams and online fraud

Session 7. The critical context: risks, regulations and ethics

Example topics: GDPR, transparency, privacy, policies

Session 8. How to build a software system with AI (automated software engineering)

Example topics: AI for coding, agentic AI, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), model context protocol (MCP)

It will be a brainstorm and discussion session shaped by your business needs. Move from theory to practice.

Session 9. The AI project lifecycle and Identify your AI opportunities

  • The key steps to start and implement an AI project in your company

  • Focus on your needs and help you figure out how AI may boost your business and the pathway to achieve it

Workshop Arrangement, Format & Cost

For a group with at least 5 people, we offer the following dedicated workshop options just for your group (on a Monday or Thursday, one month booking in advance):

We hold half-day or full-day workshop with knowledge transfer sessions. Each session lasts around 45 minutes.

When submitting the booking form, you can choose either

  • Half day: choose 3 sessions from the list above (Session 1 + 2 others).

  • Full day: choose 5 sessions from the list above (Session 1 + 4 others).

The training sessions can be delivered either in-person or in a virtual format.

In-person workshop could give you a nice away-from-work day, based at Edgbaston Park Hotel, University of Birmingham. Meeting room and catering will be provided. The cost is:

  • Half day: £200 per person including lunch, minimum 5 people as a group.

  • Full day: £250 per person including lunch, minimum 5 people as a group.

Virtual workshop will be delivered through teams or zoom. It is a flexible option if you struggle to find a time to travel. The cost is:

  • Half day: £100 per person, minimum 5 people as a group.

  • Full day: £130 per person, minimum 5 people as a group.

For a group with less than 5 people, we offer open workshop days for small groups. You can register your interest through our booking form, and choose the open workshop option. It has a fixed menu that starts with AI overview, followed by the trending topic sessions, and ends with an open discussion session. It will be a full day event online. Our upcoming workshop day will be around end of Feb or early March. We will e-mail you the concrete date & time after your registration.

Discount:

During our trial period, we only charge for venue use, catering and a small portion of booking fee. For larger groups (10+), discount may apply and please get in touch and email us at support@ai-launchpad.co.uk.

If you are a research group at UoB, please get in touch for internal price.

Venue:

The face-to-face workshop will usually be held at the Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, University of Birmingham. We also have the option in Birmingham city centre. If you do have preference, please let us know in the booking form.

Who are these workshops for?

They’re designed for beginners and non-technical professionals eager to learn AI basics.

Do I need prior AI knowledge?

No prior experience is needed; we start from the ground up to make AI approachable.

How long is each workshop?

Workshops will be either half day (formed of 3 sessions) or full day (formed of 5 sessions), balancing depth with your busy schedule. Each session lasts around 45 mins.

Roughly speaking, half-day: 9.30am - 1pm; full-day: 9.30 - 4pm.

If you'd like to arrange a workshop longer than one day, please let me know in the booking form.

We offer both online sessions and occasional in-person events for flexibility.

How do I book a workshop?

Simply use our booking page to select your preferred dates and topics of interest, and secure your spot. You will then be contacted for detailed arrangement and payment.

What if the AI topic I want to learn is not in the session list?

Simply indicate your requirement in our booking form. We will check if we can accommodate and get in touch.

Can I get follow-up support?

Yes, we offer follow-up guidance to ensure you stay on track and provide collaboration opportunities with University of Birmingham and the academic experts in your field. All of our speakers are the Fellow of The Institute of Data and AI (IDAI).
